This week I had the honour of photographing the New Vinyl 95.3 radio announcers. What a great group of people! It was so much fun to see the faces behind the voices.
Bob Magee and Corrie Miller host the morning drive Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No stranger to the southwestern Ontario radio scene, Bob Magee, a longtime Toronto broadcaster, built his career at 1050 CHUM and was most recently at 98.1 CHFI. Corrie hails from Vancouver Y108, and prior to that, spent 10 years at Corus Radio Vancouver with Classic Rock 101 as part of The Bro Jake Show. Brad Hoffman is the talented Producer of the morning show.
John Novak hosts the midday time slot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Novak was part of CKOC’s lineup during the ‘70s and ‘80s when the station was ranked as one of the three biggest Top 40/contemporary hit radio stations in Canada.
Gord James is the afternoon host weekdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Gord spent five years at CKOC, predominantly in afternoon drive in the early ‘70s before making stops in Montréal and Kitchener. He spent the next 30 years at CHUM radio in Toronto, seven of those years in morning drive as host of The Morning Show with Gord James and the James Gang on 1050 CHUM.
Derek Rivers will take the evening weekday slot from 7 p.m. to midnight. Rivers comes from Y108 after spending 18 years at radio stations in Thunder Bay, Calgary and Vancouver.
Bob Saint is on the air Saturdays and Sundays, 12 noon until 6 p.m. Bob originally worked at CFTR throughout the 80’s.
